From The “Duh” Files
October 26th, 2007 | by Craig |You need to read the whole article, because the spin — well, it will make your head spin.
The result will provide ammunition to those who argue not enough is known about global warming to warrant taking action.
Yeah, you think? Faulty models giving credence to what skeptics have been saying all along? BLASPHEMY!
But, just in case you were wondering what this is really all about, the author makes it clear later on:
That is likely to fuel attacks by critics in the oil industry and elsewhere who argue against investing in measures like clean energy until more is known about climate change.
Geddit? If you’re an AGW “denier,” you’re not only “for” burning up the earth, but also “against” investing in clean energy.
False dichotomies? Fear-mongering? It’s all there, folks. Just step right up.

Wow - I can see the steam off your forehead. Globular warming.
But take heart - we’re far too advanced to do anything. And you’re right - it was a conspiracy from the beginning. We got together in a basement one night and decided that this was the best way to bring down capitalism. We are powerful, man. And stupid. And ill mannered to boot. Who was it said it’s not enough to be stupid - we must also be polite?
Yeah - we’re just too stupid to see that without overwhelming evidence that convinces everyone, including ExxonMobil, we’ve got nothing. Meanwhile, New Orleans under water, San Diego burns. Montana burns, the arctic melts … but we haven’t hit on that one thing that will convince you. We’re just too stupid to figure it out.

I’m just glad that ExxonMobil went ahead and melted Glacial Lake Missoula, else I’d be under a sheet of ice right now.
Really, though, you should get on board with the “deniers.” We get a nice, fat check every month. It more than pays for the gas I use every month, so it’s time well spent.

You are indeed in denial. There are several levels:
1) It’s not happening
2) It’s happening, but humans aren’t causing it
3) It’s happening, humans are causing it, nothing can be done
4) It’s happening, humans are causing it, a few things can be done.
5) It’s happening, humans are causing it, but fluorescent light bulbs will fix it.
You have graduated from level one to two. It’s still denial, but progress. In the meantime, I’m on level three.
