Boy or girl?
Caleb? Chris? Craig? No, that one’s taken.

According to the Bible, the world’s first woman was named Chava (KHA-va). The English version of this Hebrew name is Eve.

Just thought I’d throw “Chaim” out there for your consideration…
(insert cricket sound here).

Congrats! That starts with a hard C, but would not make a good name I fear.
How about Calloway, as in Shane Calloway Mason?

Catherine? Cordelia? Corduroy? Oh wait, that’s not a name.

Congratulations!
I’ve seen a few baby names in my time and here are my observations.
1). What the name means is not nearly so important as what it sounds like, in the long run.
2). Unique is good unless its so unique that no one has EVER heard of it.
3). Old-fashioned (timeless names) names are by far the ones associated with success later in life. Freakonomics bears this out, as well as another book I used to recommend called Beyond Jennifer and Jason. I do not know if this book is still around, but it is fascinating and there are great ethnic names in there.
Based on your criteria, I would strongly recommend Catherine, Claire and Clementine (really). For boys- Christian, Cooper or Carter (depending on if the last-name-as first-name trend holds out). Avoid Crystal, Kayla, Courtney and Cody like the plague.
Also, FYI, I got the raised eyebrow from my parish priest for not having a Saint’s name (or derivation) for one of my kids. There are some very cool obscure Saint’s names, or you could use one for a middle name.

Christopher is a pretty good one IMHO

How about “Carumba” as in “Aye Carumba!” Craig, have you and The Spousal Unit figured out what keeps causing this condition?

Congrats - if indeed the News is what we all presume it to be.
Hey - how about “Cascade” as a name? As in “Cascade County!”

Now that you mention it Dani, I do see a lot of Crystals, Courtneys & Codys at work. And that ain’t a good thing.

Aww, Craig. You din’t? You did! You dog! :-0
Serious congrats! And we have Camille, Cori, Cory, Carla, Colin, Carissa, Clarissa, Carmine, Clyde, Calder, Clancy, Cliff, Calvin, Carmilla (if you don’t mind naming your child after a vampire), and Clarice. If a boy, I second JP and just suggest Christopher. ~wink~
And SU, I know you have all the real work to do. Consider yourself truly and deeply cyber-hugged.

Well, blow me down. I wasn’t sure what to make of it when I read the post, but apparently there’s a new little conservative to be thankful for. Congratulations! As for a hard “C”; I’m not sure any fits the bill quite like Clinton.

So are congratulations in order or did you just get another cat? *ducks*

Thanks to all. Yes, we’re expecting #4 sometime in September. Gonna have to figure out what’s causing that, I guess.
And, Rita, like I have to tell the kids pretty much on a daily basis: No. More. Cats.

That’s awesome, Craig. Congrats to you and the spousal unit!

Craig- No. More. Cats. Doesn’t mean anything around here either, only it’s my husband who keeps bringing them home. Perhaps the dad doth protest too much?
TMM- Heh. Just remember, people do tend to follow the “calling” of their names. For instances, a disportportionate number of doctors will have surnames like “Sharp,” “Payne” or “Wells” as compared to the general population. The priest in our hometown was Father Godley. In Germany it’s illegal to name a kid Hitler. You never know.

Congrats, my friend. Jeez, I’m pretty slow on the draw. As for a name, “Carmine” is good, but it works best if preceded by “Yo!”

I was thinking on this today. I like Cardin, It has a nice sound. There is also Chamille and Chloe.

I admit I wasn’t 100% sure what we were talking about after the title. Fortunately the first comment, “boy or girl?” helped: ah, a newborn baby! And I was reassured, somewhat, after a few “congratulations” comments. The names. But suddenly, uncertainty reared it ugly head with the “no more cats” remarks, and by the time I got to Jim’s comment, and the fact that Jim wasn’t sure either, and seemed to think the child was a gangster and NOT a cat, I was pretty confused again. Finally, though, I’m going out on a bit of a limb with a heartfelt “Congratulations on your new baby!” I’m no good with name ideas (Captain Crunch was all I could think of).

Let me add my congratulations to the queue.
You asked for some suggestions. How about Corazon, Camille, Catalina or Caitlyn for a girl and Cain, Connor, Caleb, Conan, Cornelius or King for a boy?
