How to Get The Camel’s Nose in the Tent

January 17th, 2007 | by Craig |

So a legislator thinks it’s a good idea to drive with headlights on in the daytime.

I agree.

But, he knows that Montanans will be agin’ it, just because for the most part, DRL’s are standard equipment and the cops have better things to do.

So, what do you do?

Try to enact the bill, but with no penalty.

This, my friends, is a stroke of genius. Legislators will think, “Well, hell, there’s no penalty, so no harm done.”

But, guess what happens in ‘09? Now that the law is on the books, we might as well go ahead and enforce it, right?

    No penalty?

    I need an incentive.

That might just be the dumbest article I have ever read. Not your post mind you, but the article you linked. How the hell is something optional a law? What is he thinking?

And hey what’s up with those people who drive with their hazard flashers on when there is NO hazard? You know, they’re like, driving along FLASHFLASHFLASH like there’s some big emergency deal or bad weather situation or fog or alien abduction in progress but there isn’t. Yeah I know this has nothing to do with anything written here, really, but what the heck, eh? Craig doesn’t mind, do ya Craig? It’s a comment. More a question, really. Inquiring minds and all.

And hey what’s up with those people who drive with their finger buried in one of their nostrils up to the second knuckle? You know, they’re like, driving along DIGDIGDIG like there’s some big thing in there worth mining for.

And hey, what about those people who drive along with, like, their left arm or elbow hanging outside the car, like, acting all casual and stuff? It won’t be so casual when that arm gets swiped off by an oncoming car, pal. I saw a guy that actually happened to. Real bummer.
