December 6th, 2006 | by Craig |- A seeker from the UK wants to know about: Yippee-ki-yay translation. Well, my friend, the last time I saw Die Hard on TBS, they translated it variouly as “Yippee-Ki-Yay, melon farmer,” or “Yippee-Ki-Yay, my friend.” Around here, though, we pronounce it “Kevin.
- Someone from India wants to find small thoughts for the day. You’ve certainly come to the right place for those, my friend. Every day.
- Something I’d wished for: 2005 Griz football national champions. That was actually Appalachian State, but we’re hoping for 2006.

I’ve heard it edited to “Yippee-ki-yay Mother Falcon”…. I consider it one of the funniest dub-overs ever.

I think the last time I saw Die Hard on TV it was “Yippee-ki-yay, keemosabe.” Which, when did it become a badly dubbed kung fu movie?
As for translation, it’s a little known fact that “yippee-ki-yay” is cowboy slang for “cactus makes a very uncomfortable substitute for toilet paper.”
