When ESPN Classic was counting down the 20 most memorable moments in the history of MNF, this was #2. At the exact moment Taylor was rearranging Theisman’s leg, the feed from the network (at least on DirecTV) went dead. I was expecting Rod Serling to come on at any moment. (As a fan of the Canadian Football League, I remember when Joe was the QB for the Toronto Argonauts, taking them to a Grey Cup Final in 1971, where they lost to the Calgary Stampeders, 14-11.)

Sorry. I feel compelled to post this when I have to listen to Joe Theismann.

    Kirk–

I always get a kick out of the fact that Joe was “Theezman” (phonetically) until he was a contender for the Heisman trophy.

Yuh. I watched this live. It was horrible. I was in 7th grade and still haven’t gotten it out of my head.

Ugh, I’m with Shane. Why did I click that little arrow? Hey! Why not link to that UMiami brawl? The original commentary to that was idiotic.

I was in college back then and I remember making the folks in my dorm lobby watch the game because I’m a huge Redskins fan. So we were watching in horror as they replayed that over and over and over.

Later I learned that my uncle was at the game and close enough to hear the hit and the snap of his bones. Ugh.
