School Shootings

October 11th, 2006 | by Craig |

Good lord, what is up with all the school shootings these days? Even here in Montana, although this case was just a BB gun. (I got shot by BB guns more than once as a kid, but I guess that’s a different story. Bottom line: it hurts, and you could put someone’s eye out with it.)

The answer of the day is, naturally, to ban guns in schools, yet somehow they keep finding their way in.

I’m going to go the opposite route and say the answer isn’t less guns, but more.

When I was in high school, our parking lot was usually an arsenal, especially during hunting season. Cripes, we could have given The Wolverines a run for their money. And no one got shot. Then again, we had just a shade over 100 kids in the entire school, which I’m sure helped.

As Heinlein said, “An armed society is a polite society.”

Man… Red Dawn. Someone ‘borrowed’ my copy of that and I need to get it back. That movie still sets the hair on the back of my neck. The brat-pack saves Democracy.

    Fantastic flick.

In all fairness, the kid with the BB gun had just eaten a whopper…

Red Dawn- big deal. Those were Colorado Wolverines- I mean every one in high school knows how to shoot, don’t they? Let’s see some one tackle my Wolverines. Wyoming raises ‘em tough.
