Pretty soon, we’re talking about some real money.

The state Board of Regents unanimously approved a Montana University System budget of more than $1 billion for the first time in the system’s history Friday morning.

“I think, frankly, this is something Montanans should celebrate,” Regent Mark Semmens said. “It demonstrates positively the impact the Montana University System has on the state’s economy.”

Semmens said it was particularly notable that $160 million of state funding is “supporting that billion-dollar enterprise.”
