Nike Commercial
September 24th, 2006 | by Craig |Have you seen the Nike commercial that features coaches, players and other personalities as if they were in high school?
Personally, I think it’s a rather clever campaign, and it was amusing to figure out who all was featured in the ad.
One thing I’ve noticed, though.
In the first version of the ad that I saw, Don Shula is giving the pre-game pep talk and says, “Someone is going to get their first loss tonight. Is it going to be us?” To which the team gives a resounding “NO!” in unison. Shula then says, “Everybody take a knee,” and the team bows their heads, as if in prayer.
In the recent version, the scene is cut right after Shula says, “Is it going to be us?”
I haven’t seen the original version in weeks.
Interesting, no?

Nothing like religion to bring out the intellectual giants.

It is our “P.C.” world. It is politically correct to say and do darn near anything in the media… except God forbid, religion.

I’m amused (greatly!) by the Dodge Caliber “Scares the outta me” commercial. Every time I see it, gets funnier…

You’ve proven once again that brevity is, indeed, the soul of wit.
May I be so bold as to make some suggestions so as to save yourself some keystrokes next time:
1.) You could simply say, “Moron.” You don’t lose the meaning, and you get the added benefit of using 60% fewer keystrokes (and presumably brain power).
2.) There’s the always venerable, “Fuck off.” It gives the same impression, but with a little more “punch,” as it were. But you’re only saving 40% of your keystrokes.
3.) If that doesn’t work for you, you could cut almost 75% of your keystrokes with a simple “FOAD.” Simple. Universal.
Those are just a few suggestions to make your brevity even more brief and your wit even wittier.
If I can be of further service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
