Did You Know?
February 23rd, 2006 | by Craig |Did you know that there is a movie out called “Brokeback Mountain?”
Did you know that it evidently involves gay cowboys (sans pudding)?
Did you know that one of them is named “Ennis.”
Did you know that some reviewers and/or writers set the location in Montana?
Did you know that I grew up in Ennis, Montana?
Did you know that this sequence of events has led Google News Alerts to tell me more about the movie than I ever cared to know?
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
But, being a free-market, pro-entrepreneur kind of guy, I confess that I was delighted when this story ended up in my inbox with the headline of “Homo on the Range.”

Yo, I see that in October Ennis will be featuring the “HUNTERS FEED & WILD GAME COOK-OFF”. Sounds positively dreamy. I’ll be wearing puce.

Did you know that I haven’t seen the movie Brokeback Mountain and don’t plan to?
Did you know that I like Conan O’Brien’s Triumph the Insult Comic Dog?
Did you know that I like Taco Bell?
Did you know that these questions are unrelated to much of anything, and that I just wanted to leave a comment, and that there’s nothing wrong with that?

Well, I’m sure it had nothing to do with Ennis. And this has nothing to do with this post but I notice you are reading Samantha Burns (on your “new finds”) wow it’s a small blog world. I read her too.

Waitasecond.
There was a demand for same-sex couples to take sheep-herding vacations before Brokeback Mountain? Really? WTF?

If I were a rancher, I think I’d offer all kinds of activities in the guise of vacations, for anyone who wanted them.
“Come to beautiful Montana! Live like a real Ranch Hand! Get up at 4 a.m. and feed the Cows! Come in the Winter and You Can Experience the fun of Midnight Calving at 40 below zero! All for the low, low price of $1500/week!”
