Not Impressed

July 17th, 2005 | by Craig |

So I’m watching this program on the Food Channel, and they’re having a competition among bartenders a la Cocktail.

You wanna impress me, barkeep?

Just get me a beer right before my current one runs dry, OK?

Throw the bottles around all you want, but if you can anticipate my needs, then I’m impressed.

well said. I was watching the same thing until I realized First Blood was on Encore.

There was a time we used to signal the barstaff our need for yet another pitcher of draft by balancing the empty one on our heads and yelling ‘EMPTY’ as loud as we could. It generally worked.

    Heh

Heck, they don’t have to anticipate my needs. I’d be happy if they would just serve more than the same 7-8 of their friends in a busy bar!

Yep…just keep me away from an empty bottle bar keep.

I ususally like to watch the “Challenges” on the Food TV Network, but like you, this one left me cold–and not in that refreshing alcoholic kind of way. Who cares? Just give me my drink. Double shot. In a pint glass. Then serve the next person.

I swear, shenanigans like this must be something bartenders do outside of Montana. If one of the guys behind the bar down at the Silver Dollar in Missoula jumped about like a performing flea, he would be greeted by a bunch of flying peanut shells.
