Podcasting?

July 1st, 2005 | by Craig |

There are very few bandwagons that I don’t want to jump on, so I thought I’d give this “podcasting” thing a shot.

When I was asked to appear on the radio show here in Billings, I quipped that I had a face for radio, and a voice for blogging.

If you didn’t happen to listen to that show, you will now be able to decide for yourself, when you listen to the first mtpolitics.net podcast. (~8MB, 17 minutes.)

Your constructive comments are, of course, welcome. Fair warning, though: if your comments are too kind, you may be subjected to more podcasts.

I tried to listen to it but with everything on my computer turned as high as possible I could still not get enough volume to hear it. I’m sure you did a great job.

Craig, you’ll have to teach me how you did the enclosures.

Should I even make an attempt on dial-up?!

The commentary from Pelosi and Kennedy was timely and well-integrated into the piece. I’ll also add my guitar was close enough at hand to riff out the barres for the Chorus of DWYBO. Up the Irons!

    Trench–
I notice that you’re hosting your .mp3’s on archive.org. If you host the .mp3 yourself, WP will automatically add the enclosure.

If you host it somewhere else, like you do, you can just go down to the custom fields. You can select “enclosure” for the key, then just put the URL in for Value, and that’s all there is to it.

    Karen–
8 megs might be a little weighty for dial-up, but if you’re in town, I’ll give you a copy via “sneakernet.”

    Lightfoot–
I was waiting for you to note that DWYBO is from PoM, and I didn’t pick a tune from Powerslave. (The Trooper and Losfer Words were also-rans in the theme song department.)

Figured out how to do it and still host on archive.org. But the podcast sounded great. Definitely dig the Iron Maiden.

    A few questions for you.

What software did you use to create your podcast?
What was the clicking noise throughout your podcast?

Concerning the Bork and Thomas nominations:
Couldn’t a similar argument be made about the treatment of Abe Fortas by Republicans and Dixiecrats during his nomination hearing for Chief Justice in 1968?

Great job on the podcast btw!
