Dear Hollywood

November 8th, 2004 | by Craig |

Can we please stop with the remakes already? I’m on my knees, begging.

I don’t mind an occasional “Starsky and Hutch” or something of that nature, but this remake-mania has got to stop — now.

Let me explain.

Really, there are only 4 good Burt Reynolds films: Deliverance, Smokey and The Bandit (you can admit that you liked it. It’s OK.), and The Longest Yard.

OK, so there are only 3 good Burt Reynolds films.

So, I’m begging you, Hollywood. Please. Stop. Now.

This movie should not have been made.

Hooper? Sure. Cannonball Run? Knock yourselves out. But, The Longest Yard?

I mean, if Chris Farley were still alive, can you imagine Farley as Lewis Medlock and David Spade as Ed Gentry? We don’t even want to think about who get’s Ned Beatty’s part, although I would nominate Adam Sandler, simply for his culpability in remaking The Longest Yard.

Some things are best left alone.

Hopefully you’ll remember Sandler’s recurring SNL character Cajun Man:

“Sodomizashone!”

Hopefully Bob Sapp will smack Sandler and lay him out.
BTW, can we also ask the powers that be to stop UB40 before they remake again?

    We can only hope.

    On both counts.
