You Heard It Here First
January 18th, 2004 | by mtpolitics |Here is the photographic evidence that: a) there are Bloggers in Montana; and b) you can get them together in January.
UPDATE: Dave has pics, too.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I do know that the Spousal Unit™ and I had a wonderful time, and the company couldn’t be beat.
Tom Owen, who you’ll find mostly at Ed’s place is a reformed New Yawker, who has found job security by teaching physicians the meaning of Medical Codes. As far as I can tell, you might as well teach them Sanskrit, for all the good it does on my bill.
Tom wins second prize for driving the farthest to attend the MBB. He came in from Park City.
First prize in the mileage category goes to Dave.
What can you say about meeting Dave in person? Beats the hell out of me, but here’s what I can say about Dave: His voice is deeper than what you might think.
Seriously, though, Dave and his family are the best. As the party broke up, we learned that his youngest, Sassy, hadn’t been feeling well the whole evening, yet there was nary a peep from her. She was a trooper, through and through. I only wish we’d sent them home earlier, so she could get some rest.
Who have I missed…?
[UPDATE: 12:57 MST]: Ed notes that I left Randy out of this story. I didn’t mean to slight Randy, I was aiming to include people I hadn’t met before. I did notice, however, that I hadn’t mentioned Randy earlier after we’d gotten together. So, to correct that oversight, let me say that if you get the impression from Randy’s blog that he’s quick-witted and a little bit of a smart-aleck, you would be entirely correct. It’s almost a guarantee that Randy will have your ribs hurting from laughing in no time flat.
Ed Kemmick: Talking with Ed, you can certainly see how smoothly Lee Enterprises is tightening their corporate grip on Montana. He’s personable, sociable — and even knows someone from Ennis. It’s enough to lull you to sleep, if you weren’t eternally vigilant for the liberal media.
(Much to Ed’s disappointment and chagrin, there was no charter, nor by-laws, etc. for Montana Bloggers.)
Last, but not least, we have Mr. and Mrs. Eric Coobs. (I probably spelled “Laurie” wrong on the photo page. I figure I have a 50/50 chance. Given my luck, I’m pretty sure I’m wrong.) Eric ran for the city council this past fall, but was granted the gift of a mute telephone, until the next time he decides to seek public office.
Ideas for the next Bash are now being officially solicited, since everyone agrees that only a fool would suggest a get-together in January in Montana.

OK…
I was MIA and I am sorry folks but as usual I was extremely busy getting ready for a very important meeting on Monday. As many of you know, we just recently opened C4K and we are now faced with a mountain of bills that need to be paid in order to continue to keep the doors open AND be able to keep the costs down in order to get computers ready for kids here in Montana.
So please pencil me in for next year OK?

That’s OK, Mike. We were hoping you’d come by, but your barbershop is kind of a revolving blogger bash, anyway.
Plus, from the sounds of things, we probably won’t have to wait until next year to do this again.

Dear Spousal Unit,
Thanks for the enjoyable evening and wonderful conversation despite having to drag your anchor around!

Craig, it was a great time - very much obliged to you & Randy and the rest of the Billings Brigade for the hospitality!
I’m still here — we’re checking out Rimrock Mall right now — Pam & Sassy are in a state of euphoric bliss in fact — and I’m doing some catch-up on the internet-connected computer at Radio Shack. Heh. Wearing my Blogger hoodie, natch.
Great write up, too — and (cough, cough) nice pictures!
Till we meet again, my friend!
Dave

Hi, all:
Sorry I couldn’t make it–I quite wanted to–but it was my wife’s birthday (or should I say “my Spousal Unitâ„¢?”), and we had planned an overnight stay in Red Lodge. I’ll make the next one.

TL: Your wife’s birthday is more important than the MBB?
Where are your priorities man?

It certainly looks as if you all had a great time.
As soon as we can get RNS back up and running, I’ll be posting pics from the Seattle area blogger Meet, greet and shoot.
I’ll be out to MT this summer, if I com to a MT Blogger Bash, someone from MT will have to come out to Seattle for some range time.
