Let’s Make It Official

November 28th, 2003 | by mtpolitics |

Alright, someone’s gotta make the proposal, so I’ll go ahead and do it.

I’m just dying to put faces with names, so I’m thinking that the time is right for a Montana blogger bash. Bloggers, commentors, lurkers and anyone else, from anywhere on the political spectrum are invited.

Now, I know that we’re largely concentrated here in Billings, but some folks aren’t. So, perhaps we should vote for a venue? Lewistown, being the geographical center of Montana would be the fairest choice, and maybe we could get a block of rooms at one of the hotels.

At any rate, I say we decide on a date and location and make it happen.

What say you?

Count me in! Sometime after the holidays, and Lewistown is a good choice. My second choice would be Bozeman. I’ll put the word out on my two sites, too. Thanks for taking the lead on this, Craig!

A Face with a Blog? Are we ready for that? The mystery awaits… Do you need a key note?

    Brian–

I can’t speak for everyone else, but I think a keynote would be awesome.

However, that won’t excuse you from buying a round or two. :-D

I would personally have to vote for a Billings location. Once I start feeding cows I can’t get very far away from home.

Should I wear a smoking jacket and an ascot or a Bush Jacket?

I dunno. Meeting face to face sounds so … unsanitary. But it would have to be Billings for me. This newspaper is like a dog collar that jerks me back if I get farther away than Laurel.

If the majority votes for Billings - or if having it in Billings will ensure a bigger turnout - then we’ll make it to Billings.

    My vote goes to Billings.

Well, this commentor votes for either Billings or GF, primarily because I’d have to fly in from out of state.

Then too, I can only attend if the event takes place when school isn’t in session: after Xmas but before Jan 12, between March 12-21, or between May 14 and June 5. Of course, given the sorry state of the Cal-State university system budget, I will probably be unemployed after the end of May next year…

So how about the Montanans that don’t live there anymore? I vote for a video phone! I would love to come but am a few thousand miles away so have a great time! Don’t leave any details out when you get back, I am hating the fact that I am going to miss meeting some of my favorite bloggers in person.

Oh sorry, I thought that this was the site where one could get their penis enlarged! My mistake. Oh, don’t even think that. It’s not for me. It’s for a friend of mine. Well, actually his problem is not his penis. It’s his balls. HE AIN’T GOT ANY! Right, Max???????

I vote for … nowhere. The beauty of blogging is not knowing who all these folks are. I decided a while ago that I don’t want to know who Ghost Dog is, for instance. And Craig, the host of this site, says the Internet-savvy could figure out his identity in a few minutes. Well, I can’t and I haven’t and I think I prefer it that way. If we all get together and start sloshing drinks, the next thing you know we’ll all be palsy-walsy and will starting talking nice to each other in the blogosphere. Having said all that … it is true that my mug appears on my blog, which might run counter to everything I’ve said. But I’m one of the few with an “official,” “affiliated” blog, and it can’t be helped. BUT — if someone were to put a blogbash together, I’d be hard-pressed to stay away.

If you go to Lewistown, stay at the Wicks family B&B over on Boulevard. Nicer feel than the Yogo. Tell ‘em Jack from Portland sent ya.
